what do you think?

my friend shelley from canada is in town
she took this photo
on saturday on the lower eastside
she said it was a 'few blocks from allen & houston'
it reminded her of battery!
reminds me of a tin can
what do you think it looks like?

after the frost

learned something
 new
 this past
weekend

apparently
gingko trees
drop
literally drop
all
every single one
of
their leaves
the morning
 after
 the first frost
of
the season

that's what happened
saturday morning
the
entire street
from
riverside drive
to
west end avenue
blanketed
with
 golden leaves
and
naked gingkos!

flat on one side?

walking along
lower broadway
 a few weekends ago
i spotted
 those two dogs
 totally relaxed
at
 the feet
of
 their owner

toonman and i
used
 to
 joke
about
our cats becoming flat on one side

remember that, honey?

vaporized

steam from the underground pipes
vent
 fog
 vapor
 through manholes

its especially noticeable
during colder days
like
this past wednesday
when the temps
 finally dropped out
 of
the late summer level
 into
full fall!

topless

thursday
 was
back to spring
with
temps in the high 60s

there was also
 a lot of fog
giving
1WTC
a topless look!

new york city strong!

wednesday morning
 the sun rose
 as if
nothing
 had
happened
the day before

i guess its always like that
life goes on
no matter what horrors transpire

tuesday afternoon
a crazy person
in a rented flatbed pick up truck
intentionally
swerved
off west street
(aka westside highway)
onto
a bike/pedestrian path
that sits between the river and the highway

it was a beautifully perfect afternoon for biking or walking
there were a lot of people enjoying the day
soon the three schools nearby would be letting out

i am not sure
how much
 more horrible
it would have been
 had the crazy man
not
 plowed
 into the side
of
a school bus
but
he did

it stopped
his killing spree
it allowed
 alert police
to
grab him as he ran from the truck

8 lives were lost
many others were seriously injured

new yorkers stand strong

terrorism
didnt keep
thousands
from
 the annual halloween parade

and
 it wont
keep
new yorkers
 from
 living their lives
