wednesday morning
the sun rose
as if
nothing
had
happened
the day before
i guess its always like that
life goes on
no matter what horrors transpire
tuesday afternoon
a crazy person
in a rented flatbed pick up truck
intentionally
swerved
off west street
(aka westside highway)
onto
a bike/pedestrian path
that sits between the river and the highway
it was a beautifully perfect afternoon for biking or walking
there were a lot of people enjoying the day
soon the three schools nearby would be letting out
i am not sure
how much
more horrible
it would have been
had the crazy man
not
plowed
into the side
of
a school bus
but
he did
it stopped
his killing spree
it allowed
alert police
to
grab him as he ran from the truck
8 lives were lost
many others were seriously injured
new yorkers stand strong
terrorism
didnt keep
thousands
from
the annual halloween parade
and
it wont
keep
new yorkers
from
living their lives
