  1. I like how the curvy slide serves as the transition between the circular rivets and the vertical lines of green.

  2. How funny, I never realized that sliding pond was just a NY thing. My mother always calls it that - I always thought it was strange.

We just call it a slide.

  4. Good photo, Daryl. But a very weird name for it!!

We call them slippery slides, but well, we are Australian...so that explains that! We usually do call a spade a spade!

Love the new header, Daryl...where did you find the banners?

  5. I always heard "sliding pond" and could never understand why it would be called that. We always said "sliding board", but the newer, spiraled ones don't fit that either.
    Great shot.

  7. I have never heard it called a sliding pond, and I live in New york, although Upstate. It was always just a slide. It makes sense, after I read your link. I learned something new today, thank you.

I liked this photo, it reminded me of NYC. When I walk around, I see so many slides (ponds) that look just like this. I like the curves, and the child's face in the background. Nice, nice shot.

  10. This is the first time I've ever heard it called that. It makes me wonder if there is a swimming pool at the bottom. Now that would be fun!

  16. I like the way the light reflects of the slide almost like a rainbow.

  17. Damn, you New Yorkers make everything so complicated! Well, that's what I discovered watching "Sex and the City"!

Now, pond slides. What's with that? And why is it exclusive to NYC? Sheesh.

I'm going to call it a sloping toy. So there!

  23. I've never heard of a "sliding pond" ... We called those things "slicky slides" when I was a kid in West Virginia. Cool photo, though, whatever you call it.
