sunday in the park

Le Carrousel in Bryant Park
just inside the park on the Sixth Avenue side
Bryant Park is directly behind the Fifth Avenue Branch of the NY Public Library
Did you know
that during Teddy Roosevelt's
tenure as Police Chief of NYC
there was a reservoir where the park now sits?

  1. Maybe that's why the trees look so happy.

  4. I had no idea that Teddy Roosevelt was ever chief of police of NYC. I've been meaning to read a biography of him for years. I think it's time.

I would imagine that the carousel and a walk in the park would be a big draw for everyone as they leave the library.

  5. It looks like a little slice of Heaven, smack dab in the middle of The Big City...

  6. Lovely photo, the way you have shot this, the light and the colors gives it the feel of an impressionistic painting.

  9. If I focus and focus on the Carousel then I can blank out the buildings.
Love it. Does it play music?

  10. Stunning shot and I bet it's just as lovely in the summer with the leaves on the trees.

  11. I didn't know that! But then I don't know a whole about Teddy Roosevelt other than he supposedly charged up some hill and forged our national parks. ;-)

This is a wonderful photo, though! Still a few leaves around and it looks like some folks found the weather enjoyable enough to bring their kids to the carousel!

    Have a wonderful week, Daryl.

  12. No, I must confess, I didn't even know Teddy Roosevelt had been the CP of the NYPD.

I love the dichotomy of the vintage carousel against the modern building though.
