i dated a fellow who had a lambretta
smart people
even then
wore helmuts whilst riding
on scooters
mine had a decal of a flower on top
when we stopped short
slammed on the brakes
one afternoon
to
avoid running down a stupid kid
who'd darted out
from
between two parked cars

was
thrown
off
the
scooter
the flower
atop my helmut
was
cracked down the middle
thankfully
