looking down

i went to bed
to sleep
tuesday night
woke on
wednesday morning
with
 a truly
 wonked out
back
the worst
i could barely walk
standing up straight
i felt
as if
i was listing to the right
i was

gah

took the 'regular' half a pain med
nothing
nothing

at the office
sitting
 in
 my ergonomically correct chair
i was fine

stand up
oh
 my aching back

walking like a listing cripple
took
the other half a pain med
still
nothing
nothing

by 4 pm
 i was a zombie
took
 another half a pain med

for years
 a half
never failed to ease the ache
whatever happened
 in my sleep
 was
 bad
bad
bad

at 8:30 pm
 i took another half
 went to bed
back to where it all began
another half a med
put me to sleep

awoke
 thursday morning
gingerly
i sat up
i stood
o u c h

walking
out to feed the cats
listing less
crouching
to put their bowls
down
 was likely
 amusing to see
 the contortions
 sigh
 but
 i did it

took a half a pain med
went to the office
by the time
 i needed
 more meds
 all i needed
 was
 two tylenol
a
vast
 improvement
walking
listing less
 less pain
you could say
i am better
i'll say i'm better
not sure
 what it was
oh
so
 glad
 its
gone

  3. Oh bother! I'm so glad you're much better today. Hate bad back mornings. You know, R throws his back out a couple times/year doing something stupid like lifting an engine by himself...so he knows it...but he also is the product of a naturopathic Dr father and absolutely refused to take any meds for anything. (he isn't even immunized...thank god for herd immunity)But one time it was so bad he actually agreed to go to emergency, where the Dr slapped him upside the head and said take the pain meds and use your back, it's the only way it will get better. So that's the trick and now he uses 1/2 of a Dicloflex and gets on with his day. He's such a grumpy bear when his back hurts.

  6. Nothing worse than back pain -- especially when you can't figure out where it came from. Glad you're on the mend.

  7. Oh, no fun with the back pain. I'm so glad you're feeling better.

I added the email gadget but it didn't offer me any options for publicize or delivery. Maybe you're just special?

  8. so sorry you had such pain. back pain is truly miserable. chiropractic has helped me kick the pain and kept me functioning. i'm grateful for it.
