on the platform

 of the eastside subway

 there are 

step aside

 signs

 do people heed it?

 they did the afternoon

 i was there

 on the westside

 people huddle

 close to the edge 

of the platform

 waiting 

the train's arrival

then 

they part

 like the red sea

 to

 allow passengers

 to exit

 before

 pushing

 to get on

 before

 the doors

close

riding

 the 

new york city subway

 its a trip
