three on thursday - manayunk

 these
three
 interesting
things
were in
 one
of the many small shops
 that
 line
 the main drag
 of
Manayunk

 its
 a
recently
gentrified area
 there are a ton
of
resale/consignment
shops
reselling
well cared for
gently worn
designer
clothes, bags, shoes
all of which contrast
with
the 'antique' shops
selling
gently used
well cared for
junk

  3. Fun shot. I love browsing in junk stores. I definitely don't have the right type of home to display or use much of it, but I enjoy the looking :).

  4. Gosh I haven't seen dollypegs for years! My friends and I used to draw faces on them and wrap scraps of material round them to make them into dolls when I was a little girl. :)

  5. I love browsing in those shops, but have to admit it concerns me when I see things I grew up with in "antique" shops. I didn't think 39 was too antiquish! ;)

  6. Wow! You sure pack a lot into a day of adventure! I do love to look thru both consignment and 'antique' stores...I did a little of that with my sis-in-law the other day...

  7. Those old clothespins confuse me. Seriously!

  8. Manayunk? Is that like DUMBO, one of those combined words? Or is it an actual street, or neighborhood, or...?

  9. I didn't even spy these. I remember my grandmother hanging out clothes with those old clothespins!

  10. Love the old clothes pins... I think we had them when used to hang clothes on the line. That was a looong time ago.

  11. I'm a wee bit partial to some 'gently worn' designer bits and pieces, Aimee even more so!! The only trouble with vintage is that back then women must have all been soooooooo skinny!! Love the composition of your finds here Daryl.

  13. I have jars like these AND an entire bag of the exact type of clothespins. Primitive stuff. I've managed to get it all separated from the attic and now have no clue what to do with it all.

    So...I LOVE this photo :)

  15. Oh, good stuff. I'm hoping to find fun things like this when we clean out the garage for our 10-years-late yard sale.
