sunday in the park

A few Saturdays ago
I wandered
lower Manhattan.
There are many little parks along the river
and
nestled in among the buildings
I spied this little sandbox playground

  1. I love the contrast between the toys in the sand and the grid around the tree. Looks like two different worlds.

  3. sweet little park. The only sand I trust is on the beach... cats are afraid of water.

  5. If it were summer, I'd say the kids heard the Good Humor Man and took off, abandoning their toys. Or are these put out by the park people?

  6. This is a great shot. Were the children far away? I hope they didn't abandon the toys. If so, there will be tears later.

  8. Love it... the little colorful toys are just waiting on some three year old little boy to make them come to life.

  9. Love the bright colors and the chunky, curved edges or the slide and the boys. Not sure if chunky is the right word but until the caffeine kicks in, that's the best I can come up with. Oversized, exaggerated, smooth curves is probably a better way to describe it.

  10. OK, clearly the coffee has not kicked in.

I meant "edge OF the slide and the TOYS" not boys, although I'm sure the boys would be nice too.

  15. Wow in the middle of winter. So colourful and whimsical. And gives me a bit of a pang remembering when my kids were little. And remembering summer.

Love the new header. It's beautiful.

  18. Rather poignant...do you suppose some kids left these toys? Or did you tell them to get out of the sand so you could take a picture? ;-)

Wasn't it a bit cold for kiddos to be putzing around in a sandbox?

Of course, you were out taking pictures...

  21. There is a decidedly summery quality to this photo. It reminds me of taking the kiddo the park in all sorts of weather and always finding something to do--with something. Memories... Thanks.
