sky watch friday - twilight on east 42nd street

I took this shot of the Chrysler Building at dusk last week as I headed to an appointment on the Eastside of Manhattan..

If you want to participate in Sky Watch Friday, head over to Dot's Strolling through Georgia and sign up or just check out the other bloggers!

And if you would all keep good thoughts for all those NIU students and their families affected by yesterday's tragedy; a very good friend is a student counselor at NIU

Oh I so love the architecture of the Chrysler building and with it up against the sky like that it just looks stunning. My heart goes out to those around that horrible shooting in Illinois. My daughter went to school outside of Chicago for 3 semesters so that really affected me in a more personal way. Praying...

Astonishing how a building is so enhanced with that background…

Thank you for sharing a bit of the city with us.

My grandson is at the USMMA on Long Island, at the site of the old Chrysler Estate. Chrysler has a real history in New York!

Thank you all for both your kind words about my photo AND for your good thoughts/prayers for those at NIU ..

This is wonderful. New York's many marvelous sign posts in the sky have claimed a place in my heart over the years. They capture the dreams of so many. God bless.

And indeed my prayers are with those poor NIU kids.

So beautiful! They just don't build buildings with style like that anymore...

A friend of mine works at NIU in the building next to the one where the shooting took place and was evacuated... So tragic!

Beautiful pictures...I'll have to go on a hunt for some of your sites!

And yes, my thoughts are with those affected by the school shootings too.

I love how the sky always makes such a gorgeous backdrop to those tall buildings, and I'm so happy you share it with us.

Will definitely keep the students and families at NIU in my thoughts and prayers.

i LOVE this shot. i hate admitting that it is a familiar building that i didn't know was the chrysler building. i will hang my head in shame. wait. i probably knew but forgot. yes, i prefer being forgetful to stupid any day.

Never been to NYC - or the Chrysler building. Thanks for the great view ....

Well you all must come visit .. its such a beautiful city and its always being tinkered with .. buildings being torn down and rebuilt .. others that will always evoke memories of better times .. places 'landmarked' to preserve them for future generations .. why am I wasting this excellent prose in a reply .. it should be a blog and likely will be .. meanwhile DO come visit either here through my pix and prose or in person.. I would love to show you 'round!
