what a weekend
i took friday off
to go to the doctor
with toonman
he'd caught my cold
for him it was a lot worse
than
a sore throat stuffed nose and a cough
his doctor wasn't in
so we saw another doctor
she was terrific
diagnosed his shortness of breath as congestion
likely bronchitis
but
decided to do an ekg
just because
well first one is run
they think there's a problem with the machine
so they do it again
umm
lets switch machines
ok
maybe its the tech
finally
the doctor comes back
she says
she can't find a previous ekg to compare
when are you seeing your cardiologist
she asks
we shrug
his practice
which was part of the same group
she's a part of
is now
over
across
town
associated with another hospital
we hadn't set up an appt
because
toonman had seen him in october
well
she said
we have a cardio unit down the hall
lets see if they can see you
just to make sure ....
so
we go down the hall
longer story somewhat shorter
the new cardiologist finds a year old ekg
which
is
identical
to
the
4
they've just run
she explains
because he's had heart surgery
and
because he's very thin
the right side of his heart has thickened
and
on the ekg
there are strange jagged lines
which
to a non cardiologist
could be seen as signs of a heart attack
but
for
toonman
its
normal
so it turns out
the bronchitis is just bronchitis
his heart is fine
nevertheless
it was a pretty crazy day
we got home
he took a nap
i did errands
including
hunting down the antibiotic
he needed
seems
the first doctor's assistant
called
into
the
wrong
pharmacy
oy and vey
saturday
i beautified
i had the best massage
sunday
i met my friend blondie for lunch
all in all
a weekend that left me sort of like this
