yesterday morning

 this scene

 stopped

 me

 i was juggling

 an umbrella

 an over stuffed tote bag 

my id 

 it stopped me

 took out my iPhone 

crouched down

balancing

 carefully

 so 

i didnt tip over

 onto

 the wet plaza

 i didnt

 i hated the renovation of times square

 i really

 hated

 the construction 

the inconvenience of sidewalk narrowing

 hated the arrival of h&m

hate

 the disney characters posing in their gross smelling costumes 

with

tourists

 tourists

 seem to have multiplied

 now every day is like wednesday

 how so 

you ask

 well

 wednesday is matinee day

 broadway and its theaters 

just a block or two away from times square

wednesday matinee attendees are bus'd in

 they clog the area 

gawking

 now 

with the new improved times square 

they are there 

like that

 every day 

okay

however much i hate it

 i am going to miss it

 we are moving in under 90 days 

we're getting new id cards

 we're prompted

 everywhere we look

 to

 start the purge

 get rid of

 toss out 

shred

archive

 files books magazines

  i dont adapt to change very well

 its taken me years

 to adjust 

to the times square redo 

i think

 by the time 

i retire

 god knows when that will be

nevertheless 

it will likely take til 

then

 for me 

to 

come to terms 

with

 working 

downtown
