 its been raining

 pretty steadily

 since

 friday afternoon

 i suppose

 i should not complain

 since

 its not snow

 and

 its the end 

of

 march

 i do not consider 

rain

 to be 

going out like a lamb

happy as i am

 its not snow

i do remember

 oddly

very vividly

 one late april day

 many

many

 many 

years ago

 as

 a girl scout 

our troop 

went to the united nations for a tour

 it was late april

 as i said

 we wore our uniforms

 with

 little cotton ankle socks

 penny loafers 

or 

those shoes

 with

 straps across the instep

instead

 of oxfords lace ups

 little light weight

sweaters

 cardigans

 when we came out of the united nations

 it

 was

 snowing

 big

 wet 

flakes

 we were 

seriously

 under dressed

 for

 such weather

 it was

 a 

long walk

 to

 the subway

 i really do remember

 how cold it was

 ever since

 i have been

 very 

skeptical

 of 

spring

 its a skitzo season

 weather-wise

 so

 i am doubtful

 til

 proven wrong

sunday

 i wore my yellow hooded slicker

again

 went to polished

 then fairway

 then home

 for

 another

 day

 indoors
