eating my way through the weekend

we had
pizza for dinner on friday
 it was disappointing
 it arrived
 barely warm
 i suspect
they didn't make it fresh
 i bet
they took a pie that had been made earlier
 the pepperoni
 stuck it in the oven
 'hot' it up
then delivered it

 huge disappointment
 did not stop me
 eating two slices
 toonman from eating 4
he paid with a tummy ache

 the cake
 he baked me
 did you know
we bake each other birthday cakes
 we do
 it was so good
 i had a nice slice
 called it a day
 stuffed to the gills

i met my sister for lunch

since the juice cleanse
i have been eschewing animal protein
 the pizza
first dairy and bread
i had
almost 3 weeks
 have to admit
havent missed it

we had lunch
 a vegan restaurant
 amsterdam at 82nd
 we shared
 3 appetizers
pan seared shanghai style shitake & wood ear mushrooms
marinated tofu and vegetable protein filled dumplings
chickpea 'fries' with a hint of indian spices
 veggie tempura
 totally delish

a slice of key lime pie
 they describe it
 as 'raw' and gluten free
 its made
coconut cashew  avocado agave filling
 a walnut brazil nut crust

it was very rich
 we didn't finish it

i took the leftovers home

we watched
Dallas Buyers Club
a really good movie

will be a day of beautification
not sure whats on the menu

what did you do?
what did you eat?

  1. That pan seared shitake sounds so good! I've eaten lots of animal protein though...grilled chicken tonight and chili yesterday. French toast for brunch today, thanks to my husband. Except for a couple of walks, I've mostly worked on my computer, playing catch-up! Glad you had a good birthday weekend!

  2. Thank you for the birthday greeting care! It was just lovely. AND, we have begun to make homemade pizza simply because we were getting worse and worse results with the stuff being delivered to our door. Maybe you and Toonman could try making yours. SO much tastier I must say. Happy Belated Birthday to you. xox

  3. We've started making our own pizza too! At least I can blame myself for the ones that aren't great;)
Hope you have a great Sunday getting beautified and all!

We will stay here at my mil's house today...we are living here since my fil passed.

  4. Definitely better to make your own pizza, but your lunch sure sounds like it was yummy. Of course, it's that cake that looks best of all to me. I hope you had a wonderful birthday! xo.

  5. I don't think I can give up animal protein but I do appreciate vegan and vegetarian dishes on the side :) Your lunch sounds delish!

  6. I'm mesmerized by that chocolate cake. It looks absolutely delicious. It's just as well that nobody here bakes...

  7. I saw a piece on CBS' Sunday Morning that featured Matthew McConaughey and Dallas Buyers Club. It was excellent.

Haven't eaten much that's interesting. Today I made sweets for a friend for tomorrow and am proud to say that I didn't even lick the spoon or my fingers. Tonight I'm having this:
    It's baking right now.

  8. Ahhhh....Hubby and I went out for breakfast today which we don't do very often at all....and I had Pancakes! It's been several years since I've had them and they were Yum-O!
That chocolate cake looks AWESOME! Sounds like you had a good birthday :)

  9. OMG. I want some of that key lime pie. Sounds heavenly. I roasted a chicken Saturday and baked a lasagna today. Must have been halfway OK, because not much is left.

  10. I've bee a complete SLUG! (delightful :) Did my nails. . . .

    ALOHA from Honolulu
    Comfort Spiral

  11. Sounds really good, except for the pizza.

Heather and son are gluten free now so that makes me parttime gluten free and I am not suffering a bit.

    That restaurant sounds wonderful.

  12. That lunch sounds really good, even though I'm not much of a vegan. The pie looks so pretty.

We spent time with friends ... a little more drinking than normal and snack-type foods. I'll have to compensate this week.

  13. Ugh! I just ate too much tonight! Now I feel lousy:(
