water tower wednesday - dawns early light

you've seen this view before
its what I see
walking up 80th Street to Broadway
to the subway

in the mornings
just before daylight savings time
the morning skies were pink and grainy

NO

the grain is due to my point&shoot giving up the ghost
 its no longer focusing properly
and
its getting harder to hold it steady even with the 'shake reduction'
(or whatever its really called)
turned on.

  2. I'm not good at early morning shots no matter what camera I use. Just hard to capture, but have to say, you did a pretty darn good job despite the 'shake reduction' thingie.

  4. Sometimes the best pics are because our camera isn't quite good enough. I love your photo.

  5. The colors are beautiful -- as is the composition. Bummer on the point and shoot.

  6. Don't do away with it just yet Daryl, if it's still taking shots like this it deserves to 'live'!!

  7. Grainy or not, the capture itself is wonderful!

  8. Consider it stylized! Art comes in all forms ... still great shot!

  9. I think grain is great... I often add it to a bw photo... I remember taking this photo to a camera shop, and they wouldn't print it because it was 'too grainy'. If you check the post, you'll see that it reminded me of Maxfield Parrish's paintings.

  11. Hmmmmmmmm. Is there some sort of camera sickness going around? Mine crapped out completely over the weekend.

  12. It might be that whole Mercury in retrograde thing.. or it might just be that the auto function needed to choose a slow shutter speed (shakes) and high ISO (grain) for this particular image. In any event, it's still a beauty.

  14. I actually love the grain in this Daryl. I think it adds so much to the already wonderful mood. This is really beautiful, and I love the wonderful natural frame.

  18. Oh wow! I love it, grain and all. It reminds me somehow of a Chinese landscape painting.
