  9. Love the contrast in colors from top to bottom, almost mimics the cycle of life. You start off young and vibrant and end up covered in barnacles.

    Piers/moorings make for great photographic subjects. I have a lot from here in SF, and a few from NYC as well.

  30. It is quite an engineering feat to get those poles to stay in the water and to support them for strength. The colors are so wonderful with all of it's variety. Nice shot.

  36. Just occurs to me, being a subway nut and all. You didn't get that shot through the window of the Far Rockaway train while on the trestle over Jamaica Bay, did you? Probably not - you wouldn't have had the clarity through one of those windows. Just a thought I had, though.

  42. Good eye!! Honestly, I'm not just impressed with the talent of photographers, but the ability to pick images out of the every day world, isolate them, and somehow render them more beautiful.

    It's like a type of magic, making the world much prettier.
