  2. Evocative - I gather Labour Day marks the turning in a social sense. It is definitely Autumn here, moreso than usual.

  3. Not ready for autumn yet, but that is a great pic. I can see myself, all wrapped up, steaming coffee in hand, sitting out there enjoying the freshness of autumn.

  4. Very moody, I like it. I'm digging my heels in though and refusing to accept that fall is rapidly approaching. If I could I'd keep summer here all year long!

  5. Yes, that FEELS like Ct. As I recall, a bit hilly. We moved to the south shore where it is quite flat and negotiable, and fewer leaves to sweep!

  6. I can see why they love it there. It's chilly this morning here in Maryland. I have my slippers on and a long sleeve shirt!

  7. You really caught the cool winds of August in this one...the looking toward winter...the fact it's not going to get better for some time...the death of a season...it's dismal and dark ... maybe when the snows come it will get better...

    Super shot!

  8. I long for days such as that...to sit for hours in a sweat shirt and a good cuppa relishing in the beauty of every falling leaf. Just lovely.

  13. What an inviting deck. I like the leaves scattered there too. Makes me think of taking a seat, wearing a sweater, and drinking hot chocolate (with a dollop of brandy).

  14. Very moody, conveys a bit of sadness, at least to me, end of summer, winter on the horizon. But the good news is that in about 5 months the days will start getting longer again :)

  20. oOo...this makes me want to slip into a sweater and old jeans, bring a disc player outside and sit and listen to It's A Beautiful Day or Joni Mitchell or read a good novel. I love this picture, though new porch furniture seems in order. ;-)

  25. Beautiful.

    I love wood ; etc.

i was so lucky the other day... my old wicker rocking chair fell apart last summer. As a single mom did not want to buy a new one for my tiny front stoop..

I lucked out with two (2) Bamboo very nicely made chairs.. that fit so nicely.. AND FREE and IN GREAT SHAPE .. (someone elses trash is a gift).. And saved me at least 100.00.

There is a lovely weather terra cotta pot I found about 10 years ago too. (another item thrown out).

I put the two resin (Plastic) ones in my back yard).

    Thanks for the photo..

  29. Your picture has that desolate, it's almost winter look to it. Great photo!

  30. It's the sort of place I wish I could go to - with a cup of hot tea, and woolly socks. If autumn were a place, this is what it would look like.

  36. GORGEOUS, THE MONOCHROME IS FUNNILY MORE EVOCATIVE THAN THE ACTUAL COLOURS...STUNNING!

  37. Oh, that's just down the road, Daryl! What a great shot. Makes me think of the way I feel the day after Labor Day--which is just a few short hours away. Wonderful photo.

  38. Very nice shot. I think the leaves really add a lot to this picture.

  39. I love the angle you've chosen. The lines in the photo lead us in, and the starkness tells us autumn has come.
