water tower

another look
 across
80th street
see the water tower there on the right?
in the wee hours of the morning
on the way to the office

i have a very high pain threshold
 so
when i had a little ache
 in december
 that went away
 i ignored it
 tucked it away
 of course
 things got worse

 surgery
 was done
 a bone graft
 was necessary
 it cost a lot

 insurance
still hasnt
reimbursed me
 and
 this weekend
 why
 is it
tooth/oral things
 always
happen on weekends
 when dentists arent in
is it some sort of odd karma

well
on sunday at brunch
 i noticed
the area
that
was
healing
was
feeling
odd
 tingly
to the touch of the tongue

 i know
dont put your tongue there and it wont tingle
 right

 monday
 the odd feeling was gone
 but
i am no fool
 this time
 i called the dentist
 he wasnt in
i got an appointment for tuesday

 he asked me
 to describe
 what i felt

he understood
exactly
 what
it was

 apparently
 the bone graft
 is
taking/healing
 in
the process
there is/are
some
shedding
of
some
 little bits
of
bone
he called it something i forget
 there were
two
of these things
 he
 'helped'
them
leave
 and
 then
 took an x-ray

 sigh

in janaury
he removed
 a fractured root
 from
 a root-canaled tooth
under a bridge

now
 he thinks
 he should have taken more

sigh

so
 after i return from paris
i will have more of this mess dealt with
 he promises
it will be a lot less invasive

riiiiiight
