in the subway

I stopped
riding the M104
last spring
when the budget cuts to the MTA
(Metropolitan Transit Authority)
eliminated
any semblance
of a schedule for the M104

I just didnt feel like waiting 20 minutes
 for a bus
when in 20 minutes
I could be at the office
if
I took the subway.

Even tho I am home
Fridaycationing
today
I'm going to share subway photos

its illegal
by the way
to take photos in the subway
 so
dont turn me in!

Looking
back
down
the escalator
now working 80%
of the time
after
being under repair
 for about 10 months

Step up

Riding up
Riding down

Lots of lights
the ceiling fixture
mimics
the
escalator steps

 Up

Up

Tourists
and
New Yorkers

come and go
via all the subway lines
in
Times Square

  1. I've never been on a subway. I do love escalators though!

  5. Very cool. The illegal part surprises me though.

  6. How odd that it is illegal. I know many places shunned photo taking right after 9-11, but I thought most had lifted those bans by now.

  7. I had no idea it's illegal! Do you know what the reasoning is? I have mixed feelings about the subway...okay not that mixed. Mostly I despise it! Lol! Yet there's something endearing about it as well. :)

  9. Why is it illegal to take photos on the subway?

  10. The subway looks cleaner than I remember. Of course, I haven't been in New York for years - back when photos were legal (I think).

I'm imagine the reason for the ban is to make it harder for terrorists to formulate an effective layout for bomb placement, and to give police a reason to arrest them beforehand.

  11. Since Mary and/or Peter walk my tail off in Paris, I'm always eternally grateful when I find a Paris Metro with an escalator!!!! Yours looks pretty snazzy.

  14. Riding New York's subways is always one of my favorite things when I visit. I love that you can get just about anywhere, anytime day or night. And it's usually pretty entertaining too. Only discovered crosstown buses last visit, as a convenient way to traverse Central Park.

  15. be very very careful
remember me and my water tower incident! ;)

I used to take the subway to the Jay Street stop in Brroklyn Heights, it's about 20 miles underground!! LOL and the damn escalator AND handicapped elevator were always broken
thankfully it was in my pre-disability days but even then I'd get to the top and want to die from exertion

now I'd have to do what many other do
get back on the train and find a stop I could get out of

  16. Once in awhile you just gotta
    break a few rules..and I don't
see the harm in taking photos
    in a public place...

  17. It's illegal to take pictures in the subway? Whatever for? Do they think you are going to take picture to plan an attack?
