morning light

i usually
face
 west
for my morning shot
under the canopy
pulling the focus much closer
BUT
the other morning
the sky
the light
further off
were too hard to resist
so pink
yet
so gold

looking .....

it was a long weekend
 lots of
food
leftovers
football
beautifying
cyber shopping

and you?

crossing madison avenue

a few weekends ago
i walked up madison avenue
after a dentist appointment

it was one of those
only in new york moments
when
 the streets are almost deserted

 i am not sure
 if these people
were together or simply paired
because
they were in my viewfinder at the same time

but
there they are
both of them
walking the dog
walking the baby

a slice of life image

oh yeah
that snowflake?
part of the neighborhoods holiday decor

happy thanksgiving

if you are celebrating
i wish you
the enjoyment of the macy's thanksgiving day parade
the pleasure of watching miracle on 34th street
(for the umpteenth time)
the fun of the national dog show
and
of course
football
football
football

oh yeah
eat drink be merry
no politics!

wintery skies

this past weekend
began with very mild temperatures
ended with snow in some of upstate new york

monday morning
the winds howled
the skies threatened

winter is coming

colors of autumn

seasonally vibrant sky
serves as background
for
the changing (dying) leaves
 of
the trees
in
riverside park

took it while waiting for the M5 on saturday
bussed it to midtown
 for
a morning appointment with my dentist
he's terrific
he has saturday hours once a month

extreme security
policemen/women in clusters
along fifth avenue
between 58th street and 56th street
forming a barrier to 'his' tower

sawhorses blockading fifth avenue
narrowing it to one traffic lane
ugh

after the dentist
 i walked uptown
 on
 madison avenue
for a bit
before
heading crosstown
back to the 'hood
to beautify

i had hoped to meet a friend
for a walk in central park
but
an aprés dental work head/jaw ache
sent me home
 to relax
take tylenol
 watch a movie with toonman

x-men: apocolypse
was a fun escape

i love cheesy action movies

last weekend
we watched
 star trek - beyond

what did you do?

waiting ...

how sweet is this puppy?

look at those paws!

i wonder how old he is
i wonder how much he eats

looks to me like possibly a saint bernard mix

mural

eye catching
it covers most of the front of a building
just off canal street

spotted it
walking off brunch
 a few sundays ago
in chinatown

step up

daylight savings time
has
 pretty much
ended
the lovely quiet dark mornings

i step up
out the subway
the sun has risen
the dark is lessening

seasons change
the year is winding down

it wasnt a great year
it wasnt as bad for me
as it was for the world
in general

i guess
 its time
to
 think about
how to make '17
better

leaving?

during that
long nasty campaign season
a lot of people
claimed
they'd move
 to
 canada or elsewhere
 if ..

well it happened
there was a
horrible end to the election
(at least for the majority of us .. dont believe me? look at the popular vote)

anyone leaving?

sweater season

over on the eastside halloween weekend
i was walking behind these two

i loved that bulldog's sweater
dont you?

in the distance

this past sunday
after brunch
 we needed a walk
so
we took the long way to the subway

i am not sure what street
 we were crossing
when my friend said
 wave to your building

i turned and not only waved
 i took this photo

this that and a water tower or two

took the subway
 on sunday
 to meet a friend
 for
 a dim sum brunch
in chinatown

on the way
 i met this family
headed to brooklyn
with
a step ladder and a sign
they were going to cheer on their daughter
who was running the marathon
it was a perfect nyc fall day
perfect for running

after brunch
at
 the joy luck palace
 on
 mott street
we walked to the westside subway
stopping to snap this mural

i stepped back to get a better angle
and there were
two, perhaps siamese, water towers!

and
when i got off the subway
uptown
i snapped this shot
of
a runner
who'd completed the marathon

i tip my hat to all runners
running is not something i do
marathoners deserve huge props

Día de Muertos

one of my neighbors
decorated their window
 for
 all souls' day
aka
 day of the dead
last week

had me scratching my head
wondering
 why
they'd decorated
in
november
for something
that happens
 in
 may

duh on me

on the outside looking in

nyc healthcodes have changed
dogs are permitted inside food shops
as long as the manager/owner permits

no idea
if this place is dog friendly
or
if the dog's person just didnt know

anyway
i loved this

blush

taken with my iphone
using the zoom
gives
 a
 very diffused
 very soft
 very gentle
feeling

morning lights

looking north
traffic flowing uptown
tail lights
head lights
decorate the morning

foreboding ...

yes, i know
halloween
is
over

but
this atmospheric water tower photo
well
i couldnt resist
