weekend blather

it was a real summery weekend
 sadly
 its over
 rain is expected through wednesday
 this is one wet june
 ugh

 fridaycation
 was spent
with
 a good friend
 we went to the whitney
we had lunch
 in
 the cafe
its on the 8th floor
its got a terrace
 in fact
floors three through 8
 have lovely terraces
with
seating
 views
and
art
that rivals the views

before we went
i called to see if reservations were needed
 i thought
untitled
(the clever name of the restaurant)
was where we wanted to dine

well
no

 its on the ground floor
 while
i am sure the food is good
there's no view
so
 after we got there
 we opted for the cafe
 sitting outdoors under an umbrella
yielded
immediate seating
 vs
a 15 minute wait to sit indoors
 and
 look out the glass wall
 or
ogle the other diners looking out

a no brainer

the move downtown for the whitney
 i heard
 was a tough choice
 the whitney family worried
no one would come
now
you can't keep them away

 renzo piano
 designed the building
i am in love with this building
it reminds me
tho probably no one else
 of
the getty in los angeles
 both
 are
open airy using lots of natural light

another thing i like about it
it contrast sharply with the rest of its neighbors

 i digress

saturday
 was spent
in an equally lovely way
my beautiful goddaughter
was in town
for law school friend's wedding shower
i was/am thrilled
she had time to meet me for brunch
we also dined outdoors
it was an almost humidity free day
spring kitchen on columbus
is
 noisy indoors
but
 a delight
 if weather permits
to sit outdoors

sunday
 was
 devoted to beautification
 being a sloth
 thinking
about
monday

a full plate weekend

i hope you had a good one
