five signs and a water tower!

march 22
 driving up
 the west side highway
 to go shoot
the george washington bridge
 with
my friend missy

 a pretty busy area

 i would think
it would
 be
 distracting
 for drivers
 but
there's almost always a traffic jam
 on that road

 its likely entertaining

 briefly

and that's the story

sunday
it was a nice day
 but
i did nothing

yeah
 of course
 there was beautifying
 food shopping at zabars

 didn't even
 try
 to get
toonman to walk

it was sunny
the breezes
were more like winds
 cold winds
at that

i want it to be spring

 i picked a spring color
 for my nails

the photo
was taken
 by
 my friend and amazing manicurist
 susan nam
 at
 polished beauty bar

 i was about to leave
 i picked up my phone
to check the time

 that case
 is
 from
 uncommon

 if you care to know
 the design
 is
one of my photos

anyway

 susan said
i need to take a photo of that
 hold still
 i did
and
 that's the story

this and that

i think
i told you
 jack has asthma
he is being really good about all the meds
he has to take

thankfully the 'squirt' of antibiotic is over
just 5 more days of mild steroid pills
 but
 the inhaler
will continue to be an every day event
for the rest of his life

 he runs
as soon as he hears me
 open the box

so i took it into the bedroom
 we lure him in there
 by shaking
 the treat bag
 they call it temptations
 but
 it should be called
 kitty crack

i am hopeful
eventually
 he'll not want to run
 i hope
eventually
toonman can do it without my help
i dont intend to give up traveling
 anyway
 its very early
 i know people
who chased their cats for weeks
and
now the cat
 puts up with it
 so
 i have hope

i bussed it to the eastside

 for my monthly massage

the trees are all in bloom off madison avenue

after my massage
 walked back
across through the park

 its so easy
the sky was blue
 sun shining
plants blooming
 nice temps

stopped at birdbath aka city bakery
 got a pressed veggie sandwich
apple kale ginger beet juice

later
toonman and i took a long walk
down through the park
to
 riverside park south

we turned around just past the sculptures
one of the techs at the office did
 i posted them last summer

the novelty of this sculpture
 has worn off
last time we walked down there
 i couldn't get a shot
for all the silly people posing in it

jimmy

spotted
 this handsome guy
 outside
 a restaurant
 after
we walked
across the brooklyn bridge
 a
 weekend or two ago

being an influenster

a while ago
i joined a group
 called

''influenster is a community of (these are their terms) trendsetters social media masterminds and educated consumers who live to give opinions of products and experiences

influensters meet on the influenster site to learn about new products from 'our' favorite brands as well as review the products they already use in their day-to-day lives''

there's something called
 a voxbox
they send out monthly
with
 a product
 or
 a coupon for a product
 to test and review

i didn't get asked to test/review anything for quite a few months

i was pleasantly surprised
 to be selected
(along with quite a few others)
 to review
a new sliced cheese from sargento

 a box arrived
 the aforementioned voxbox
 it contained
 two coupons
for complimentary product(s)

a card explaining
 what to do
 how to do it
 with
 instructions to reveal
 as i am now
that
the product was received in a complimentary fashion for testing purposes from influenster

sargento
whose cheeses i have eaten and enjoyed in the past
now has a line
 of
 ultra thin sliced cheeses
45 calories or less a slice

 nicely packaged
 in a re-closeable plastic wrapper

paper between the slices
 makes it easy to separate

i opted for the spicy pepper jack
natural monterey jack blended with jalapeño and habanero peppers
great for wraps omelets melting over chips and more

right up my specy spicy alley

also
 in the influenster vox
was
 a eco-friendly lunch tote
its got sargento's name on it

it looks as if its made by built ny
maybe its not
but
 it looks like it is

i dont know if this is going to influence you to try it but i think if you do you'll like it

that is all

is the moon full?

lets see …
in no specific order

 jack has asthma
 two trips to the vet
 in
 two days

 3 medications
 one
 of which
 is
 insanely expensive
but
will last 90 days
 AND
my sister is giving me the name of pharmacy in canada
where
its an nth of the price

 then
 there was the computer insanity
 adobe flash player worked
 until it didnt

 i downloaded a new version
 five times

each time
 it installed

 each time
 i got
 a
 the flash drive needs updating
error message

the wonderful techs worked on it
 deciding
 the whole computer needed replacing

 first thing wednesday morning
they brought me a new one
 first
my log in password wouldn't work
 then
 my email password wouldn't work
 turned out
the email password was my duh
i was entering one that was outdated
  and
 insisting it was right

 then
the newer version of outlook
 decided to be obnoxious
 fixing the preferences
did nothing

 after a few hours
 i considered
 either smashing the computer
or
 slitting my wrists

they gave me back the 'broken' one
took the newer one back
to see if they can work out its issues

thats
the ansonia

took this with the iphone
edited it with snapseed

on the way into the office

looking at it soothes
me

what a day

seems like
feels like
 i never got away

re-adjusting
 to
waking
at
5:30 vs 7:30 or 8
 isnt
 easy

back at the office
i was asked
to be
the
 move coordinator
 actually
 its a good thing
this way
i won't be whining
 things are not being done
 my way
ummm
right

 the person who asked me
 if i wanted the task
 knew just how to
 manipulate
 ummm
 get
 me to agree

october/november
 no longer
 seems
 so
 far away

 where are we moving?

 the world trade center
 43rd floor

we'll be facing south
toward
the
 brooklyn bridge

i might even be able to see
 that
water tower
 from
my new office

road trip recap

i arrived in cincinnati on thursday
 to
the most perfect
spring temperatures
sunshine
 blue skies
 blooming trees

 magical

 my friend mary
always plans things for us to do

 we lunched at
seasons 52
she had dessert

 i didn't

we visited our friend alice baltermann
alice is an extraordinary artist
she's in her mid 90s
 and
her health hasn't been the best
it was wonderful to spend time with her

we drove around a bit
stopping in at a favorite shop
where i got someone a gift
next
picked up some thai take away
had dinner
talked about what we'd do on friday

friday was just as lovely as thursday

we went to check out a shop
it had very unique clothing
all of which
were absurdly over-priced
but
adjacent
 to the parking area
 was
an old building
a dead car truck graveyard

we also went to a real graveyard
cemetery
something we both like

attempted to go to an art exhibit
 but
 the gallery was
closed

outside
i spotted
one of the wonderful painted pigs

saturday
was really busy
we picked up our friend phil
drove to
columbus, indiana
wandered a lovely little city
with some amazing architecture

i am going to share those photos over at
through my eyes

lunched outdoors under an umbrella
had ice cream at a unique old ice cream parlor

we got home in time to clean up
head out to meet more friends
for dinner
in downtown cincy

it was a really fun and photo filled weekend

i hope you had a good weekend
what did you do?

ruby

her name
 is
 ruby

 her person was with her
waiting outside a coffee shop
 on
 broadway
 last sunday

when i was heading to be beautified
 i stopped to pet her
 and
 we got into a conversation
then
 her husband
 came out
he was not as pleasant
he was very loud and outspoken
 in a negative way

 anyway
 i got a few photos
 and
went on my way

save them all

Best Friends Animal Society
77 New Jersey cats are
wishing for forever homes

How about a new best friend … or 77? That’s how many cats in Kenilworth, New Jersey (Union County) are desperately longing to find their forever homes. Could one of these adorable felines be in your future?
After the cats were rescued from a hoarding situation, Wendy Sweeny, a veterinarian in Clark, New Jersey took on the very difficult task of helping each kitty to find a loving home. All the cats are already spayed or neutered and up-to-date on shots, and Wendy is currently working around the clock to give each cat an exam.
So far, every cat has had a clean bill of health, and Wendy says, although many of them are shy, they are all desperate for a little love and affection. Founder, for example, is a two-year-old beautiful black male who wants nothing more than a rub on the head and a little playtime. Cara, a three-year-old female with gorgeous green eyes is timid at first, but when you start to pet her, she’ll roll over for more. Pancake and Flapjack are both eleven months old and love to curl up with one another. But they love curling up on a comfortable lap, too.
These are only a few of the cats who are anxiously waiting for their forever homes and a little one-on-one attention.
If you or anyone you know can offer one of these lovable cats a home, please contact Wendy Sweeny at wsweeney23@gmail.com or at 347-525-7340. She would be thrilled to help all the cats find the loving families they deserve.
Thank you for anything you can do to help these wonderful cats. Together, we can Save Them All®.

skitzo spring

it was amazing
we had
all
four seasons
 in the span
 of
 a week

 wednesday morning
 there was
snow
 frost
 rime
 on
 the cars
the flowers

 outside of manhattan
 it
was
everywhere

i am escaping
i am off to visit my friend in cincinnati

an interesting
 weather fact
 about
 cincinnati

the weather we get here in nyc
was in cincy the day before
so
i am going where the sun is shining
where the temps are already on the way to spring
(again)

i will be back on sunday
when nyc is expected to be more tolerable
see you then!

iconic view and a water tower

walking across the brooklyn bridge
you get to a point
 where
you look over to your left
 to see
 dumbo
(down under the manhattan bridge overpass)

 through the buildings
 you can see
the manhattan bridge

 far less famous
 but
 in many ways
 more attractive

a
photo
so
 many take
its considered
iconic

if you look to the right
you can see
 a water tower
also iconic
(big wink)

 ta da!

yawn

excuse me
for
 not having the energy
 for
 a real post
i walked 7 miles today, sunday, i am exhausted

 not sure
 if my
feet or legs
 are more achy

i walked across the brooklyn bridge
 it was a great walk
 a lovely day
 the sunshine
 fresh air
 have wiped me out

 so
 i leave you
 with
 this image
of
the cats sleeping on toonman's desk

It’s one of those days for takin' a walk outside

we took
 a long walk
in
 riverside park
 saturday

 neither of us 'cared'
 which direction
which path
 so we just started walking
we got to the point
 just past the community gardens

 where
we either
 turn to head back
 or
 walk the next leg uptown

we opted
 to go
 in
 a whole new direction

 we headed
 down
a sloping path past a hillside of daffs

through the underpass

along the river

down to 72nd street

up
past
 the basketball courts

it was the kind of day
everyone was out

waiting

he was waiting
 outside
 europan
 on thursday morning

 when i knelt down
 to take his photo
 i said hi there
 and
his tail started wagging

what a cutie

his person was inside getting coffee
 i guess

 i know
 not
every
 city/state
 prohibits
animals inside restaurants or any store that sells food
 but
thats the law here in nyc
so i get to see a lot of pups waiting outside
if not for that
 i wouldn't have a saturday feature

tech #4

yes
 there have been
 4 techs
 come by
 since
the original installation
 back in early march

 as i have said
 every one
 has
 'the'
 solution

 none
fix
the
problem

the latest tech came on wednesday
 he said
 the signal is strong
 its not the dvr box
 its not the remote
(one call to t-w got me a person who was insistent the problem was the remote ... it wasn't)

he decided
 the connection thingies
 those metal male/female
 'plugs'
at the ends
of
the cables/wires
 were old
 lets replace them

nope
didnt fix the problem

 next up
 will be someone
 to
 run/drop
 a new
 cable
 cord
 wire
 whateverthefuckitscalled
 from
 the roof top
where the 'feed' comes into the building
down
 into
 our apartment

 since toonman is always home
no specific appointment has been made

when the tech who does that task is in the 'hood
he'll call and come by

 lovely

meanwhile
we watch a picture that does all sorts
 of
funny
 skewing
 pixelation

 yesterday
 watching jeopardy
the heads and bodies of the contestants
 remained solid
 their middles
 went off
to the left or was it to the right

 no matter

i want to go on record here
 as i have to toonman
 the problem
began
 when
the new hr dvr box which had no picture-in-picture capability
 was
 switched
 for
one that had

 i believe
 the hd dvrs with p-in-p
 are not the newest
 and
therefore
 not compatible
 with the high def signal

 you know
that rule
 that saying
'once you have eliminated the impossible,
 whatever remains,
 no matter how improbable,
must be the truth'

 just sayin'

i believe
we are at that point

 we can call it
'daryl's law'

egg hunt!

faberge
 is sponsoring
 the big egg hunt nyc
there are over 260 egg sculptures
 across nyc's 5 boroughs
i 'collected' 12 on the upper west side
 this past week
 one was the magnolia bakery
another was in the american folk art museum
the other 10 were in the time-warner center
 in fact
 there are 2 more there
 that
i didn't get photos of
 gotta go back i guess

here's a link the website

from the top left: The Egg of Light, Glitch in Reality, Mama, Papa and Eggless, Nest Egg, Brooklyn Symphony EGGestra, I am the Eggman, Middlebook Egg, Fradki Egg, Origami Egg, The Unbreakable Happiness, Furstenberg Egg, and A  New Worldview

artsy fartsy wednesday

this week you get the photo before the whine

i hit this image
 with
 a little snapseed
 it was a wonderful app
 from nikon
 then
 google bought it

if you use anything google has acquired
 you know what i mean

 google and time-warner
should
 merge
 cannabalize itself
 do the world a favor
 yes
the problem with our television reception
for which we pay monthly a ridiculous amount of money
is
 still
 not
 resolved

we have met
 3 really nice techs
who all seem to know their jobs
 each time
 they are
 sure
its fixed

 i think the issue
is
the picture in picture capable dvr box

 why

 well
because
when we got the new hd dvr box
 it did not include
 p-in-p

the subsequent hd dvr boxes
 have
 all
 had
that option
 and
 all
 have
 also
 filled out screen with pixilation

 today
 wednesday
 tech #4
 will be coming over
 to see
 if he can fix things

i am not holding my breath

remember
 when i told you
 i was interviewed/photographed

  its now on instagram
you can click
  here
if you'd like to see it

that is all

sunday stuff

i know
 you're reading this on monday
 i wrote it on sunday
 blogging
 was meant to be
 of the moment
 interactive
but
it doesn't seem to work that way

 i got my mani/pedi
 essie's lollipop
seemed
 like a good choice
 for
 a sunshine filled day
 the wind was less harsh
if you walked in the sun
 if felt good
 the shade felt
 cooler
 chilly

 i got my hair done
its a lot fuller this week
 it needs a shaping
i need to get that done

toonman and i took a walk in the park we left the apartment around 3 not a good time for the big camera too many shadows i took along the iPhone it took some interesting photos on its one this one made me laugh i think i was brushing the hair out of my eyes

i took some photos of this adorable dog not a single one of the several i know i took showed up on the camera roll but i did get a lot of random shots i did not intentionally take

and
 this one
which
i did
take

oh and time-warner?
its on-going

windy day

saturday
was a lovely day
 no more rain
 blue skies
 fluffy clouds
 nice warm temps
 incredibly
 strong wind
 not
 a breeze
 nothing gentle
 gusts
 of
strong wind

i wish i had taken a video of these daffs
 they
 were
 being
 buffeted
bending
 leaning
 trying to stand
 against
 the harsh winds

can you see
 how
 they're leaning

i slept in
 i love sleeping
i was having an odd dream
 i remember snatches of it
i was in los angeles i was at my friend f's place
but
 it wasn't her place
not the real place she lives
i was with my grandmother at one point
 my father's mother
 i remember
 it made me feel emotional
 i know thats odd
 but
 i recall that feeling clearly
i also remember wanting to find my friend mary's phone number
 i didn't have my phone
so i didn't have my contact app
i am not sure why i needed to contact mary

i am not sure what of any of the dream
 means

 i woke
 looked at the clock
 it was 9ish
 i closed my eyes
thought about the dream a bit
 then
 i got up

eventually i went out
 did some errands
 came back
 told toonman
i wasn't going to suggest taking a walk it was too windy
i was going to call time-warner
 oh yeah
 the newest hd dvr box
barely a week old
 was acting wonky
 pixilating
skewing
 the picture
of
both live and recorded programs

i spoke to a nice guy
 at the customer resolution center
 no
didn't call
 the main number
 i am t
hrough with them
happy to say
roy was very helpful
 he told me
the earliest appointment was april 9
but
he would try and get it moved up
he called back an hour later to say someone would be by between 4 and 6 pm

so toonman and i watched the finale of this season's walking dead
because
once they take the 'old' box
all of the recorded programs disappear
walking dead is not showing again this 'season'
we checked

it was a very intense hour
if you've seen it
i am sure you know our 'heroes' are in a bad place
now we have to wait
months to find out what happens next
in the meantime
game of thrones
begins
 its new season on sunday

what else
i am reading a terrific book
the last dead girl
 its the sort of prequel
 to
bad things happen and very bad men
 the author
 harry dolan
writes
 a good involving story

i am sure there's more
 but
i dont know what

   oh yeah
 time-warner
they're on the way
so i will fill you in on that tomorrow

  hope
you
have
more interesting weekend
 then i

sitting on a park bench

sitting on a park bench
 taking in the sun

i took this
back
 on
 february 23

it was one of those warmer weekends
 of course
 it got cold again
 it even snowed again
 but
that woman had her two little pups out
taking in
the sun
 the warm

hopefully
 this weekend
its going to be really really nice
of course
 friday
 it rained all day
 so ...

i'll let you know how today was tomorrow
