what a week

I'd been waking
every morning
4 ay-em
for eons

 I'd look at the clock
 the alarm clock
 a clock
thats never been used as an alarm
I always get up
on time
no matter what time
on time
 to be

we've established
the 4 ay-em
 peek at the time
turn over
snuggle back into my pillow
 at 6
 Jack developed his morning song

outside the bedroom door

(a door made of the thinest material known to man through which sound doesnt just travel it breaks through completely)

a cry
a man cant hear
talkin' bout

 Jack sings the song
 the bladder

it wasnt
 Ms Rose got sick
 needing special food
I began
get up
 before 6
I now rise at 5 most mornings
 I sit up
shake out my hair
head into the day
 this week
I find myself
not sitting up
 so much
dragging my flat ass out of bed
trying hard to be awake
 to function
 I could sleep in

I blame the weather
why not?

As the weekend approaches
I think
more and more
 extra hour
 I can squeeze out
Jack-a-wailing begins

Do you sleep in on weekends?
Sleep deprived bloggers need to know!

  1. yes we do . . . an animal companion that disturbs my sleep is a nightmare! Hope you get your household ship-shape soon. Some people, not you of course, NEED beautification sleep-

  2. Bob is on his second cup of sludge by 5:30 am
every day of the week.. work or no work..
me.. I don't know what the word ( sleep ) means..
I doze off for 90 minutes or less a day. Can't waste
    time sleeping longer than that.

    Have a great weekend.!!

  3. It's 3:15 am and I'm still up...but I'll be back up by 6 am...I sometimes take a 30 minute nap if I get a chance:) Storming tonight so I'm sitting up with the dog. She is scared to death of thunder, so I don't even know if I'll get to lay back down now. We are a nation deprived of sleep!

  4. I try to sleep in but after getting up at 5:00 am every day for nearly 10 years now it have become such a habit. Now that we have little Clayton he starts urging about 4:30 till I can't stand it anymore, he wants to run in the yard and eat so up I get. On weekends I LOVE to be at the cabin, get my coffee, journal, book and camera and go out on the screened porch. I love to sit and listen as the world, my little slice of the world, wakes up and the birds start to tell me it's morning. It is the best time I know of.

  5. I don't think I sleep

I do think Jack has taken to calling Isadora who then tells Siren to start moving food bowls around

  6. The non-sleeping is just UGH. Sorry.

  7. I so look forward to sleeping in on Saturdays - so much so that I don't even let my kid have sleepovers here on Friday nights. All because I refuse to wake up early Saturday morning! I am SO SICK of the damn alarm clock going off at 6:30 every morning!!

  8. I have never had a problem with sleeping in the mornings! Wish I got up earlier to tell you the truth:) All the years that I worked I had to get up at 5AM and the minute I quit work my body has said that 8AM is more natural for me....now if I only could get to sleep at night that would be great!

  9. I'm up between 7 and 7.30 every day, having been up maybe twice during the night anyway. I could lie in bed until 2p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays when I was a teenager but not anymore, once I'm awake I have to get up.

  10. Being alone with no pets and not working any more, I pretty much sleep when I want. Normally, I'm up early and then take a nap in the afternoon. I'm def a morning person.

I hope you can get some extra sleep this weekend hon!

  11. Yup, as soon as it's light I'm awake, except at the weekends I'm awake with the luxury of making a cuppa and getting back into bed and either reading or dozing for a while. Is Jack wailing to get out for a pee pee? Are you in an apartment Daryl where you have to take him out for walkies? They say we need less sleep as we get older, but we need SOME!! Hope you get some extra zzzzzzz's over this weekend.

  12. Well, you know my schedule. Pie eats around the clock so I never sleep for more than a few hours at a time...but, she's totally worth the lack of sleep. And Toonman isn't the only man who's cat deaf....I have one of those men too. :)

  13. My cats would prefer that I sleep in because they're using me as a heating pad/mattress but I wake early. Usually still lie in bed and knit though so not too bad...

  14. Got to be honest and say that I usually get up EARLIER on the weekends. I'm so excited I don't have to work, and I usually have a ballgame or two to play, and if I really want a nap later I can indulge myself.

  15. My husband usually gets up with the dog, and lets me sleep. Since I got my CPAP machine, I sleep until 9am unless we're traveling.
This week my husband is away, and Lindy actually let me sleep until 9 a time or three. However, if she gets me up at 6, as she likes to do, she knows I just flake out in my recliner until she comes back in from the yard, then we both go back to the bedroom.
Unfortunately, with Fibromyalgia, I never really feel I've had the benefit of a good night's sleep. That, too, has improved somewhat since the CPAP machine, but not completely. And a CPAP machine does NOTHING for insomnia. Believe me.

  16. I normally get up around 6 am during the week. On the weekends, I sleep until 8. It's divine. I don't like sleeping any later, because I don't want to waste the precious weekend hours.

  17. I am up at 4:30 am during the week, so every once in awhile, I do sleep until maybe 6:00 am on the weekends.
Like you I have little "creatures" who do not like that!
    I love this photograph!

  18. oh, god, I wish - I try, but it's just no use xo

  19. Completely backwards...if I am up at 4 it is because I am STILL up.

  20. Kramer used to cry to wake us up or scratch at the side of bed. I would throw a pillow at him. But he no longer does that. I think his age is catching up with him lately.
